Camp Fire provides services to children, youth, and families that help them build confidence, resiliency, and an appreciation for the world around them.  Our programs help students foster skills that allow them to thrive in and out of the classroom, lead healthy lifestyles, and reach their fullest potential.  Camp Fire Central Texas utilizes the environment, nature skills, and STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, Math) activities.
Audiences: Children ages 6 – 14; Schools; Families
Summer Camp: Camp Fire’s Summer Camp is Austin’s premier urban nature and science day camp at Emma Long Park that sparks curiosity and inspires learning in kids ages 6 – 14 years old while preventing summer learning loss.  It is available for 8 weeks beginning in June, Monday through Friday, from 8AM to 4PM.  There is an option for late 5PM pickups.  Transportation is available with pick-ups at Maplewood Elementary and Northwest Recreation Center.  Scholarships for reduced/free lunch recipients if funding allows.
Each week features a nature or science theme in addition to traditional camp activities like swimming, hiking, archery, canoeing, crafts, creative expression, and other fun-filled activities.  Children explore nature, identify plants and animals, and have fun with unstructured play in a safe environment with new friends and camp instructors.  See more on Web site.
After-School Programs: Camp Fire Afterschool offers small group experiential learning with outdoor-based experiences, hands-on activities, and project-based STEAM learning for up to 10+ Austin-area elementary schools.  Programs align with TEKS curriculum, students explore ecology, wildlife, environmental stewardship, outdoor skills, and creative arts.  Archery sessions build focus, confidence, and coordination in a safe, encouraging environment.
On the Horizon: We’re developing an equipment rental program to provide families with access to quality camping gear.  We’ll be bringing back our popular backpacking program, offering guided excursions for families and youth.
